Hello, Little Blog
Sorry to have been gone so long. The pears ripened in early September and days and days of preserving as many as I could followed. Then we have school. One would think a sub isn't needed all that much at the start of school, but we have a lot of new-to-us teachers and the administration scheduled a lot of meetings during the school day so I get to hang around and wait to fill in as needed. It's also time again for the Jewish holidays. I was a reader for Rosh Hashannah and I am one-half of the committee for the Break Fast dinner following Yom Kippur. We fast for 27 hours so there had better be lots of food for the starving masses. Mostly this means that my friend and I have been baking at least 2 or 3 hours a night for the last two weeks or so. As if that weren't enough I am also making a prayer shawl for my friend's son, a wedding canopy for some people in the congregation and a whole bag of alterations for one of my Sunday School students. Oh, yeah and then there was this book to edit.....
As you can see there have been a few things here and there that take up the old blogging time. I still check on my regular blogs most days (Hi, Amy, Julie, Lene, and others) and then of course I have to play a few games of Spider Solitare (you know, two or fifty). I am still knitting now and then. While I am in school and the kids are at recess, if I don't have to prepare the next lesson I can knit while I watch them. A few first graders have made their first knit stitches on one of the socks. Whoot!
School Stories? Monday I was so tired (from staying up to bake cookies) that I had to keep myself awake by being just too silly. We were playing Sight Word Bingo (the 100 or so most frequent words for First graders) and I started to make up a story for the words as they came up. "Purple. The elephant wore a purple fedora. Purple." "The. The leopard wanted one, too. The." "Over. Over at the monkey cage, the monkeys are making pants! Over" And so on . One of the kids said, "I don't care if I win, I just want to know what happens." Bless his little heart.
It's time to go work on the simcha challah for the Break Fast. May you be sealed in the book of life for a good year.

Dang it! You blogged before I did! And I was going to do that today too and send a little shot out to my FAB that I blogged first so Tag you were it! Glad to know you haven't dropped off the face of the earth like you may have thought that I have. I've got lots to blog about so I'm going to post little one's on several topics so keep an eye out! And you did a kick-ass job on that book, too! Some of your comments were classic--you know you've done a good job on a sad scene when your editor writes aww, f--- in the margins!!! The story to the little kids was awesome--go silliness! Glad to hear you're busy happy and not just busy--and Happy Yom Kippur:-)

Missed reading your blogs and can't wait to see the prayer shawl. One of my best friends is Jewish, but he's a sporadic source of information, even if he has knitted before...
